WELCOME!

Welcome to First Tee of Greater St. Louis! When you register your child with First Tee, you are joining a family committed to positively affecting the lives of the youth in our community. At First Tee, every child is important. We hope you and your child will immediately connect with our Nine Core Values: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgment. Your commitment to these values is critical for success as your child advances through the Life Skills Experience. The following policies and procedures help everyone, including staff, coaches, volunteers, participants, and parents, to maximize the benefits offered by First Tee. We welcome questions, comments, and feedback regarding our program at any time. Thank you for your interest in First Tee!

PARENT ORIENTATION

First Tee of Greater St. Louis will host a Parent Orientation and Season Kickoff each Spring prior to the start of the session. Anyone wishing to know more about the First Tee is invited. If you are new to First Tee and have already registered your child, this orientation is highly recommended.  Returning parents need not attend but are always welcome. Click HERE to view our First Tee Parents’ Guide for additional information.

PARENT COMMUNICATION

Once your child has been registered for the Life Skills Experience, all announcements during your child’s session will be sent via e-mail to the address provided during registration. These announcements may include (but are not limited to) cancellations, rescheduling, time changes, location changes, clothing suggestions, weather announcements, event announcements, daily scheduled activity, and any other information pertaining to your child’s session. In the event of an injury or emergency, the parent/emergency contact that you have provided during registration will be notified by a phone call.

REGISTRATION

First Tee’s Life Skills Experience is a 6-week or 8-week program ending with an assessment of the participant’s cumulative understanding of both golf and life skills. The certification process determines a participant’s advancement through the Life Skills Experience. Attendance is a key component to the success, development and progression through the First Tee program.  We believe that the child is at a distinct disadvantage for missing more than two classes in an 8-week session (1 class in a 6-week session). Please keep this in mind when registering and choose a class schedule that will allow your child to meet our attendance recommendations.

All registrations are done through our website at www.firstteestlouis.org. Space is limited, and we do not hold places. Your child is considered registered once payment has been processed in full.  Walk-up registrations will not be accepted. Coaches will not conduct financial transactions of any kind.  You must complete your registration on our website before your child may attend classes. No one may attend any First Tee programming until payment has cleared.  Late Registrations will be charged an additional $15 processing fee.

Waitlist

If a particular class is full, you have the option to register for the Waitlist. If your child is the selected from the waitlist then you will receive an email notification. You will then have 48 hours to log back into the system and complete your child’s registration before it is considered abandoned, and the system automatically moves on to the next child on the Waitlist.

FINANCIAL AID

First Tee of Greater St. Louis offers financial aid to qualified participants in the form of session scholarships. Scholarships are a one-time per session use. Eligible participants are recipients of the Federal Free or Reduced Lunch Program. Applying for Financial Aid is done through the online registration process.  Upon applying, your request will be reviewed by First Tee of Greater St. Louis and a determination will be made.  Upon determination, you will receive an email with directions to complete your registration.  You will have 48 hours to complete your registration.  Failure to complete your registration in 48 hours will result in your registration being cancelled.

DROP OFF/PICKUP INFORMATION

Every class has a specific start & stop time.  It is beneficial for participants to be at their scheduled location 10 -15 minutes prior to the start of class.  Please stay and monitor your child until class begins.  Once the class starts, parents are welcome to stay and watch their child’s class at a distance prescribed by coaches so as not to have direct contact with any of the participants. Parent participation can disrupt class, make the children uncomfortable, and distract others. Parents interested in volunteering to assist with classes are encouraged to complete volunteer registration through the First Tee office.  If you leave, please be respectful of the coach’s time/schedule and be prompt in returning to pick up your junior golfer.

Coaches will start and end classes on time, no matter the number of participants present for class.  All parent communication will be held after class has ended to ensure that full attention is given to participants.

EQUIPMENT

First Tee provides clubs, balls, tees and any other equipment they might need. However, participants are encouraged to bring their own golf clubs if they have them.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

In the event of inclement weather, First Tee may decide to cancel class.  If class is canceled, the parent/guardian will be notified via email prior to the start of class.  If you do not receive an e-mail from First Tee that class has been cancelled, your class will take place at the regularly scheduled time.

*Please note that some of our locations have indoor or covered areas available to them so class may not be cancelled for some locations during inclement weather.

In the event of an on-site cancellation after class has begun, parents will be notified, and coaches will remain at the program location with participants until the participant’s parents arrive.

ATTIRE

Clothing choices should be appropriate for physical activity.  Traditional golf attire is not required however, participants are encouraged to wear their First Tee t-shirt or a collared shirt if they have one.  Please, NO tank tops, halters, jeans, extremely baggy pants or very short shorts. Athletic shoes or golf shoes are recommended footwear.  Please, NO open toed shoes, flip flops, high heels, sandals or boots.  A hat or visor and sunscreen are recommended on sunny days and we also recommend layering clothing, especially during Spring and Fall sessions.
